Designated German ambassador visits St. Finian's

A few days ago, Pastor Anja von Issendorff and Pastor Florian von Issendorff had the pleasure of welcoming David Gill, the designated German Ambassador to Ireland, to our Lutherhaus. Until the official welcome by the Irish President, ambassadors do not yet make public appearances. Nevertheless, we are pleased that we have already been able to meet Mr. Gill informally.

The diplomat is no stranger to the church. He himself comes from a pastorate and was Deputy Representative of the EKD to the Federal Government in Berlin with the title of Oberkirchenrat. From there, Mr. Gill joined the Office of the Federal President. His last station was New York, where he was Consul General.

As the window fitters were at work in the pastorate and Lutherhaus, the introductory meeting took place in the church, where we were able to tell Mr. Gill a lot about our Lutheran community here in Ireland over coffee and biscuits. We look forward to working with Mr. Gill in the future and wish him God's blessing in his new position.
