Ecumenical Bible Week
This year marks 1,700 years since the first ecumenical council of the Christian church took place. This council was a significant moment in history as it gave rise to the Nicene Creed. For this year's Ecumenical Bible Week, the organising committee has organised some events which will explore the connection between Scripture and the Nicene Creed, under the title "Nazareth to Nicaea." We, as the Lutheran Church, are also involved in two of these events and would like to extend a special invitation to you to attend:
- Sunday, 7 September, 7pm, St. Finian's Church: Opening Service for the Ecumenical Bible Week 2025. The service follows the order of the Holden Evening Prayer, a sung vespers with music by the contemporary American composer Marty Haugen.
- Wednesday, 10 September, 7pm, Church of the Sacred Heart Donnybrook: Thinking Allowed. A number of speakers representing different Christian denominations will offer personal reflections on what the Nicene Creed means to them.
For more information and an overview of the invited speakers, go to the website of this years Bible Week:
