We are hiring: Church Administrator (m/f/d)
Due to an increase in membership numbers and new financial capabilities we are proud to announce an exciting first ever job opportunity within the Lutheran Church in Ireland. Join our team and use your administrative gifts to support the life and mission of our church in the heart of Dublin. You are part of the leadership team and work closely with the lead pastors and the church council to ensure the smooth running of the administration and essential tasks of the church.
Job Details:
| Contract: | Permanent part-time contract (probationary period of 6 months) |
| Start Date: | September 1, 2026 |
| Weekly hours: | 8.75 hours/week, i.e. 25% of a full-time position (35h) on 2 days per week in person (working days and office times can be agreed upon together) |
| Gross Annual Salary: | € 9,210.00 |
| Annual Leave: | 10 working days for a two-day week, plus public holidays in ROI and Reformation Day (31 October) |
| Location: | Church Office at the Lutherhaus, 24 Adelaide Road, Dublin 2 |
Subject to further increase of the church’s income responsibility could be extended to cover the accounting department, with a corresponding increase in hours.
Job Description
Communication and Reception
- First contact person for internal and external enquiries by email, phone and letter or in person; respond to and forward correspondence
- Liaise with clergy, church council and volunteers to share information
- Contribute information and update content on the church website
- Participation in staff meetings
- Attend the annual Church Assembly
Administrative and Church Register
- File baptisms, confirmations, weddings and funerals in church registers
- Prepare and send birthday letters
- Maintain the parish calendar and the membership database as well as accurate and up-to-date church office information systems
- Update the display cabinet on a regular basis
- Provide administrative assistance for safeguarding officer and volunteers and support projects and events
Property and Finance
- Be responsible for the petty cash account and fulfil easy bookkeeping tasks
- Coordination of maintenance tasks and communication with the relevant companies
- Issue invoices, report meter readings, look after office supplies
- Attend the annual inspection of the buildings together with the building committee
The list of duties is not exhaustive, the post holder will be expected to undertake any other reasonable tasks as required to support the smooth operation of the church office.
Job Requirements
- Fluent in written and spoken English; due to the nature of our database and church registers being maintained in German, preference will be given to applicants who are proficient in written and spoken German
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds
- Highly organised, efficient and detail-oriented. Have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
- A good level of IT literacy, specifically the ability to effectively use iOS, Microsoft and other office software (like ChurchDesk)
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills

- Commitment to upholding the vision, values and ethos of the Lutheran Church in Ireland
- Availability for induction during a service after the end of the probationary period
